Private Pilot Training Requirements

This training may be a formal classroom course, one-on-one training, video package, or self-taught from the FAA outlined materials. Prior to taking the FAA written exam, however, you must present a written certificate from your instructor, or evidence that your course of study meets the requirements stated in 14 CFR, Part 61.1

These hours are  the FAA minimum requirements outlined in 14 CFR, Part 61. Actual hours for flight proficiency to pass the required FAA practical test will vary with each student.

* Flight instruction may begin at any age. Properly logged flight instruction does not expire, and will count toward total requirements for licensing.
